Q: Where are you from? (city, state)
A: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Q: Why did you choose Kirkwood?
A: After speaking with the program director, Jillissa Moorman, it was clear the Kirkwood Interior Design program could get me started in my career quickly. I also really appreciated the small and intimate cohort size.
Q: What is your major and how did you choose it?
A: Interior Design: Architecture and Design have always been an interest of mine and it wasn’t until I started learning more about the career path did I begin to understand this could be a real option for me.
Q: What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?
A: After presenting my first design project this fall, I felt very proud. I felt like “I can do this.” For so much of my life, design was an interest but never a skill and when I presented my project to the class, design felt like a skill for the first time.
Q: What are your plans after Kirkwood?
A: I am relocating this summer to a larger city to pursue my career in Interior Design. I’m fortunate the design program at Kirkwood allows us to jump right into the workforce after graduation.
Q: What inspires or motivates you?
A: My wife.
Q: Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.
A: I enjoy reading Star Wars novels, learning about wine, and traveling. I’m also a huge Cher fan and love her recent ABBA album.
Q: What does be named an Outstanding Student mean to you?
A: Being named an Outstanding Student is an incredible honor for me. To be an Outstanding Student means always bringing your best – whatever that may mean for you. This definition offers a great deal of flexibility because everyone has something unique to offer.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to add?
A: Being a part of the Interior Design program at Kirkwood has truly been a remarkable experience. When I started at Kirkwood, I did not anticipate building so many relationships with such an amazing group of people in the Interior Design program.
