Q: Where are you from? (city, state) 

A: I am from Iowa City, Iowa. 

Q: Why did you choose Kirkwood? 

A: I chose Kirkwood because of its location and excellent graduation rate. 

Q: What is your major and how did you choose it? 

A: I chose getting a degree in Medical Assisting because I wanted a career in the medical field, access to take classes part time, and it worked great around my full-time hours. 

Q: What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?  

A: My proudest moment at Kirkwood was being accepted into the Medical Assisting program and being recognized for my hard work. 

Q: What are your plans after Kirkwood? 

A:  My plan is to get a job at one of the local ambulatory clinics or doctor’s offices. 

Q: What inspires or motivates you?

A: Getting my degree for future job security is my motivation. 

Q: Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.

A: I enjoy spending time with my family and four beautiful grandchildren. I love to travel, sight see, reading, exercising, being involved with my church and doing charity for my community. 

Q: What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you? 

A: Being named an Outstanding Student lets me know that all the late nights of hard work, dedication to my goal and commitment to my future were worth every minute of it. 

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to add? 

A: I’d like to thank the Allied Health department and all of my instructors in the Medical Assisting program for assisting and encouraging me throughout my journey.
