Outstanding Students

Clarah Buhman

Q: Where are you from? (city, state)

A: Bettendorf, Iowa

Q: Why did you choose Kirkwood?

A When I came to campus visit day I got to see students at school and hear what they thought and experienced as students.

Q: What is your major and how did you choose it?

A: At Kirkwood I majored in Parks and Natural Resources. I knew I wanted a job outside and something that let me move around. I didn’t know what this major entailed but after so many great classes and conferences I knew it was right for me.

Q: What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?

A: Being a Kirkwood student has brought so many opportunities. I have got to use large equipment, chain saws, tractors, and go to conferences across the U.S.

Q: What are your plans after Kirkwood?

A: I will be attending University of Wisconsin Stevens Point to study Interpretation in the college of Natural Recourses.

Q: What inspires or motivates you?

A: I am motivated to continue learning outside of the classroom at conferences and day to day at my jobs. It is always great to be put into a new situation to figure out how to grow from that experience.

Q: Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.

A: Outside of school I spend lots of time with my family and friends. I enjoy hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, and skiing.

Q: What does be named an Outstanding Student mean to you?

A: Being an Outstanding Student is nice to know that Kirkwood staff cares for their students and this is also there way of congratulating us all.

Q: Is there anything else you would like to add?

A: My time at Kirkwood will be missed but I will always remember the experiences they brought me inside the classroom and for extra curriculars.
