Q: Where are you from? (city, state)

A: I am from Lisbon, Iowa.

Q: Why did you choose Kirkwood?

A: I choose Kirkwood because it was an affordable option, and I really benefit from small classes.

Q: What is your major and how did you choose it?

A: My major is current an associate’s of chemistry, though when I transfer it will be a bachelor’s in biochemistry. I choose this major my second year into college, and it wasn’t until I had more experience. I started by taking science classes, and really enjoyed chemistry and how it affected the body.

Q: What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?

A: My proudest moment at Kirkwood was receiving a perfect score on an organic chemistry exam.

Q: What are your plans after Kirkwood?

A: My plans after Kirkwood are to transfer to the University of Iowa, and eventually go to medical school to become a radiologist.

Q: What inspires or motivates you?

A: I have always been my own motivator, as I have always tried to do my best. I am extremely competitive when it comes to my education, so I always am trying to outdo myself.

Q: Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.

A: Outside of school, I enjoy playing soccer, drawing and painting, as well as relaxing and watching the newest Grey’s Anatomy episode with my mom and sister.

Q: What does be named an Outstanding Student mean to you?

A: Receiving the Outstanding Student Award has been rewarding. This accomplishment has given me the push to finish the semester, since sometimes classes become overwhelming. It is nice to know that someone notices the hard work and effort put into these challenging courses.
