Outstanding Students

Moriah Groothuis

Q: Where are you from? (city, state)

A: Nashua, Iowa

Q: Why did you choose Kirkwood?

A: I choose Kirkwood because I loved that they had smaller class sizes and because they had a grooming program.

Q: What is your major and how did you choose it?

A: I am in the Pet Grooming Program. I chose this program because while in high school I had a job at a vet clinic as a bather for the groomers. I learned that I really enjoyed bathing and that I wanted to learn how to groom also.

A: My proudest moment at Kirkwood was being selected as an Outstanding Student.

A: I plan to work full-time at a vet clinic in Waverly as a groomer.

Q: What inspires or motivates you?

A: I really enjoy working with animals and helping people’s pets look and feel the best they can.

Q: Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.

A: I grew up on a small farm always surrounded by a variety of animals. I love riding and showing my horses as well as training service dogs.

Q: What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you?

A: It makes me happy and I proved to myself that I can accomplish my goals of doing well in my classes.

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to add?
