Outstanding Students

Noah Bolte

Q: Where are you from? (city, state)

A: Hiawatha, Iowa

Q: Why did you choose Kirkwood?

A: I’m in a pivotal moment in my educational journey; undecided as to what my major and future career might be. Kirkwood has provided me with ample opportunity to carefully plan for my future and what steps I need to get there, even through these difficult, uncertain times. It was also a highly economical choice, as the tuition costs aren’t nearly as expensive as other institutions that offer the similar services.

Q: What is your major and how did you choose it?

A: Currently, I’m a Liberal Arts major, but my end goal is to transfer to another major and institution once I graduate from Kirkwood.

Q: What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?

A: To be perfectly honest, everything about this caught me off guard. At first, I didn’t even fully grasp the gravity of this honor. After a few weeks though, it really sunk in. It really is a humbling experience.

Q: What are your plans after Kirkwood?

A: As of now, I’m not quite sure. I know I want to transfer to a four-year school, most likely some place within the state. But who knows, I might even go farther than that.

Q: What inspires or motivates you?

A: My parents inspire me to do the best that I can, and my drive is to do as well as I can in my classes.

Q: Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.

A: Well, I’ve always enjoyed being outdoors, so naturally, most of my hobbies and interests gravitate around that. I love going on long walks, biking, bird watching, editing videos, and perhaps most of all, I love watching, tracking, and photographing trains across the state. I’ve been filming the various railroad operations across the state for over a decade at this point, and it’s been (and will continue to be) one of the most fun experiences of my life. I have two supportive parents, my mom and dad, as well as my older and younger brothers.

Q: What does be named an Outstanding Student mean to you?

A:  It is truly a humbling experience. In many ways, it acts as a much-needed confidence booster that I can look back on during future endeavors.
