Outstanding Students

Rebecca Brannan

Q: Where are you from? (city, state)

A:  I am from Greeley, Colorado but became a resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 2015.

Q: Why did you choose Kirkwood?

A:  I wanted to attend a college that offered a wide range of classes in a smaller setting.

Q: What is your major and how did you choose it?

A:  My major is Medical Assisting and I chose the program because I wanted to obtain a degree in the healthcare field outside of the nursing program.

Q: What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?

A: My proudest moment has been completing each semester on the Dean’s list. Completing each class successfully has provided me with confidence and the knowledge to continue my education.

Q: What are your plans after Kirkwood?

A: I plan to hopefully gain employment as a Medical Assistant and pass the national boards to become certified.

Q: What inspires or motivates you?

A:  My family and friends motivate me to continue to excel and I have been inspired by the medical assisting faculty. Anna, Kendra, & Peg have been helpful in providing me with all the resources needed to be a successful student.

Q: Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.
A:  I am a mother of 3 children aged 24, 21, and 18. My husband and I are high school sweethearts and he has been a wonderful support system; he is also great at helping me study before my exams. My hobbies are reading fictional mystery novels and spending time with my family.

Q: What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you?

A: I was so excited to know I was being named an Outstanding Student, it helped solidify all the hard work I put in over the years.
