Riley Malone

Q: Where are you from? (city, state) 

A: I am from Central City, Iowa. 

Q: Why did you choose Kirkwood? 

A: I chose Kirkwood because I loved how involved they were in the community and could tell they tried to make each program the best that it could be. 

Q: What is your major and how did you choose it? 

A: I’m currently in the Dental Assisting program. I’ve always had an interest in the dental field, but my main priority was finding a job I could help people and make them happy.  

Q: What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?  

A: My plans after I graduate are to work in an office nearby, but I hope in the future I am able to travel and work in a different state.  

Q: What are your plans after Kirkwood? 

A: My proudest moment at Kirkwood is working with patients during clinicals at the College of Dentistry in Iowa City. 

Q: What inspires or motivates you? 

A: I think the biggest thing that motivates me is the younger generation. I really try to be the best role model I can be to anyone that looks up to me.  

 Q: Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc. 

A: Outside of Kirkwood I am a very outgoing, friendly person. I love to hang out with my family, friends, and travel the world.   

 Q: What does be named an Outstanding Student mean to you? 

A: Receiving this award is such an honor and it means so much to me. It shows that all the hard work and studying doesn’t go unrecognized. 

Q: Is there anything else you would like to add?  

A: I would like to thank my parents and sister for everything they have done for me and for always believing in me. Lastly, I would like to thank my amazing teachers for pushing me to be the best I can be, not only in the dental field but life in general.
