Kirkwood takes down DMACC in the Semifinals 

The 20th ranked Eagles baseball team continues their winning streak with a big win over DMACC on Friday, May 14. Kirkwood defeated Des Moines Area Community College 13-4 and are now 37-19.  

With the loss the Bears are now 23-37. For the first six innings the game was tied 4-4. However, the Eagles topped off four runs in the sixth inning and scored five more in the seventh inning to beat the Bears 13-4.  

The Eagles are on to the next round and will take on Iowa Central on Saturday, May 22, at 2 p.m.  

Reece Beuter pitched five innings for Kirkwood. DMACC had 4 hits and 4 runs on Beuter. Tyler Tscherter finished the game for the Eagles and allowed 1 hit and no runs. Tscherter got his fifth win of the season.  

Anthony Potthoff started the game for DMACC and pitched five innings. He allowed 8 hits, 6 runs and 1 walk. With the loss he is now 4-3 on the year.  

Cade Van Noss pitched one inning and allowed 4 hits and 5 runs. Blake Grevengoed finished the game and allowed 2 hits and 2 runs.       

Three players for the 20th ranked Eagles had homeruns vs the Bears – 2b Josh Fitzgerald, ss Alex Pendergast and 1b Justin Martinez. Pendergast also drove in 4 RBIs in the win vs DMACC. Fitzgerald and Martinez drove in 2 RBIs.   

On the other side, DMACC scored 4 runs. The cf Cadyn Schwabe had 2 hits and 2 runs. Jackson Fisher, Ben Nippolt, Jack Thilges and Tre Mungin all had 1 RBI in the loss. DMACC will finish the season vs Northeast on Saturday.
