Eagles Weekly | September 28-October 4, 2026

Only volleyball had regular season games take place this week, and in that time the Eagles picked up four wins. Baseball and Softball both scrimmaged against Power 4 NCAA schools. While both basketball teams’ preseason started this week.

Eagles Weekly is a weekly article that summarizes all six of Kirkwood’s athletics. In these articles you can read summaries of each game, and which student-athletes have been shining the most. At the bottom of the article, two athletes are chosen for the “Eagles of the Week” honor which is given to the two Eagles who shined the brightest for that edition.

Eagles of the Week

Carly Wazac: 12 sets, 55 kills, 4.58 kills per set, 1 block per set

In a year where Carly Wazac has emerged as one of the best outside hitters in the nation, she keeps improving every week. This week in particular was special. Facing the No. 5 ranked team in Parkland College, Wazac had 20 kills, setting a new career high. Her leadership on the court is a large reason for Kirkwood being undefeated with 22 total wins. This is Wazac’s third Eagle of the Week honor.

Abbie Staats: 12 sets, 2 assists per set, 1.67 digs per set, 3 service aces

Being the libero of the Eagles volleyball team, Abbie Staats makes an impact on almost every serve that takes please. This week, Staats was doing everything on the court. Whether it was passing the ball, picking up digs or making contributions with her own serving, Staats did it all. This is Staats’ first Eagle of the Week honor.
