Eagles top Iowa Central on April 3

Kirkwood’s men’s basketball team ended the ‘20-’21 regular season with a big win over Iowa Central, 84-73. The Eagles ended their two-game losing skid and finished the season at 13-9. Kirkwood finished 5th in the ICCAC regular season standings.   

The Eagles and Tritons battled in the first half hard and it seemed that the game could go into overtime. Iowa Central led at the end of the first half 37-36.  Freshman PG Corvon Seals lead the way in scoring with 27 points. He also grabbed 3 boards and 2 assists. Seals was an outstanding 13 of 15 from the field. Sharpshooter and teammate Noah King had 13 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. Blessin Kimble came off the bench and dropped 17 points and 10 rebounds in the win vs the Tritons. Kirkwood forced 8 turnovers in the win on Saturday.   

However, the 2019 NJCAA Champions dominated in the second half and outscored the Tritons, 48-36. With the loss, the Tritons now drop to 6-15 in the season and finished 10th in the regular season ICCAC standings. Iowa Central now travels to Estherville to take on the Iowa Lakes. 

For Iowa Central, PJ Ngambi finished came away with 20 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Uzo Dibiamaka was right behind him with 18 points, 4 rebounds, 3 dimes, and 1 steal. Ayris Abdelnassar had 15 points in the loss. He also had 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal. It was a season that got away from the Tritons and they hope to play better in the conference tournament.
