On Thursday, March 30, the Kirkwood Concert Band performed in Sinclair Auditorium at Coe College. The performance consisted of Kirkwood’s band and another group called the New Horizons Band. New Horizons includes many community members who participate in both bands year-round.
The bands performed their top pieces. Some of the pieces consisted of a Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Melody, Song and Dance, Morpheus and Firebird Suite. The concert was free admission to all for friends, family and faculty.
Looking ahead, the band program has two more concerts in schedule. The jazz ensembles will perform at 7 p.m. in Ballantyne Auditorium on April 15, and the concert band will perform in Ballantyne at 7 p.m. on April 29.
Although the school year is ending soon, Director Joe Perea said he “looks forward to the upcoming performances and students the program will have in the future.”
