Kirkwood Democrats promote engagement

Kirkwood Club Corner

What is the club called?
Kirkwood Democrats.

How did it all begin?

This club has been in existence for a long time.  We just want to make students aware of our existence.

What is the mission?

The club’s mission is to promote engagement in voting and democracy as well as discuss current political issues from a Democratic perspective.

  Why should students join?

Opportunities to learn about campaigns, voting, candidates and to discuss current political topics with a friendly group of students.

How can new members get started?

Contact John Dawson, john.dawson@kirkwood.edu or come to one of our next meetings.

When and where do you meet?

We meet every two weeks on Tuesday at 11:15 a.m. in Room 3066 Cedar Hall this semester.  Next scheduled meetings are Oct. 20, Nov. 3 on election day and Dec. 1.

What happens at meetings?

Members can participate in voter registration efforts, gain contacts with political campaigns, learn how to get involved, and as well as discuss current issues and news.

Anything else students should know?

We have organized a voter registration event for Oct. 15 from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on the second floor of Iowa Hall called Donuts + Democracy.  Please come by, grab some donuts and get registered to vote.
