Library homepage updates

Contributed Content: Library Services has recently created a new internal homepage especially for our current students and faculty. The easiest way to access this new page is to use the Library button in MyHub, found under Student Links and Employee Links. It is also linked within Talon’s Student Tools, or you can bookmark this link directly: https://guides.kirkwood.edu. This new internal homepage has the library’s most used links, and we have designed it to be simple and straightforward to use.

Use our all-in-one WorldCat search to find library holdings like books and videos, and also to find online magazine and journal articles, as well as eBooks.

Get help right away on the homepage using the Ask a Librarian chat. During the hours the Library is open, there is a librarian ready to chat with you, answer your questions, and help you with your research or citations. A new feature of the chat is the ability to text directly with a librarian, without needing to go through our website. Just text your question to 319-774-6491, and get a text back during our open hours.

Do you have an assignment that requires the use of scholarly journal articles? Then the link to use is “Articles in Databases” <https://guides.kirkwood.edu/az.php>. This will take you to a list of databases or collections of articles the library pays to access, and you can use the dropdown menu to choose your topic, for example psychology, nursing, current events, or literature. The page will then recommend the best databases for that topic.

Do you have a research assignment where you need to cite your sources? Then take a look at our MLA and APA style help guides <https://guides.kirkwood.edu/citation>. We summarize the most common citation needs into a short document, and also provide help videos and tutorials.

Remember the library the next time you have a research assignment. Our website is the place to go for help and high quality resources!
