Navigators club connects students to Jesus and each other

Kirkwood Club Corner

How did the club get started?

The Navigators has been a club on Kirkwood’s campus for a number of years. Records are spotty prior to COVID, but we believe the club has been at Kirkwood for 10-15 years.

But the Navigators organization has been around since the 1930s when it started on college campuses in the U.S., and is now on college campuses around the world.

What is the purpose of the club?

The purpose of the Navigators is for club members to get to know Jesus and to help others know Jesus.

What are the benefits of joining?

Students benefit from the in-depth weekly Bible studies, but they also grow in friendship and fellowship with other club members, and they have opportunities to join with other Navigators clubs from local colleges or nationally throughout the year.

How can students get involved?

There are contact names and numbers on our flyers, if you would like to connect with one of the group facilitators for more information, on the weekly study groups or on the community events.

When and where do you meet?

The Navigators currently has four different Bible study groups meeting around campus, and this changes each semester, depending on student schedules. The club tries to make options for all students who want to attend to find a time that works for them.

What type of activities take place at the meetings?

Members meet at a variety of times, and the weekly meetings follow a Bible study. This semester, they’ve been studying the Gospel of John.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

One of the additional events that students can participate in is coming up in November, when Navigators club members from colleges in the area will gather at Cornerstone Church on Nov. 7, at 5:30 p.m. for a Friendsgiving potluck.
