Kirkwood Esports

The Kirkwood Esports teams competed at the Hawkeye Invitational. There were two days of matches. The League of Legends team took second place and the Rocket League team placed third against teams including UNI, BVU, Columbia and Northwestern.

Donate gently used winter clothing

Global Learning is accepting gently used winter clothes for the upcoming winter season. They are looking for winter coats, gloves, hats, boots and sweatshirts. If students have items to donate, e-mail Elizabeth O’Brien in Global Learning at elizabeth.obrien@kirkwood.edu.

Trunk-or-treat

Kirkwood’s adult learners are invited to bring their kids and participate in trunk-or-treating on campus. Costumes are encouraged but not required. The event will take place in the Linn Hall Parking Lot on Sunday, Oct. 24, from 3 – 4:30 p.m.

Free indoor go-kart racing

Students should bring their EagleCard to Speedeez on Monday, Oct. 25, for free indoor go-karting from

3 – 5 p.m.

Tuesday Tune-Up sessions

Learn the benefits of using alternative modes of self-expression in stress-reduction and emotion management; participants will engage in a self-expression activity through the use of writing and/or art. Free bowling

Students should bring their EagleCard to May City for free bowling on Tuesday, Oct. 26 and Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 3 – 5 p.m.

Free roller skating

Students should bring their EagleCard to Super Skate for free roller skating on Thursday, Oct. 28, from 6 – 8 p.m.

Stress awareness

Head to the 2nd Floor atrium of Cedar Hall for a stress awareness event on Wednesday, Nov. 3, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Take a break with a variety of activities designed to create some peace.

Free ice skating

On Friday, Oct. 22, students can enjoy free ice skating at ImOn Ice Arena by showing their eagle card at the entrance from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Fall musical

Don’t forget to attend the fall musical put on by the Kirkwood Theatre Department. The group is performing “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” in Ballantyne Auditorium in Cedar Hall on Thursday, Nov. 4, Friday, Nov. 5, and Saturday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free with a current EagleCard.

Dinner and a movie night

Students are invited to bring their families for dinner and a movie as Kirkwood celebrates Day of the Dead with a viewing of “Coco.” Movie will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 6:05 p.m. in Cedar Hall.
