Outstanding Students

Kokou Ketoglo

Where are you from?

I was born outside of United States but live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Why did you choose Kirkwood?

Kirkwood is my choice because is close to me and it’s one of the good institutions in Iowa.

What is your major and how did you choose it?

My major is Computer Numerical Control (CNC). First, I choose it because I would like to know how to program a CNC machine and run it. Second, I’m working in a tool and die shop.

What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?

Well, my proudest moment at Kirkwood was my first day at school in the CNC shop.

What are your plans after Kirkwood?

Right now, I’m working as tool and die specialist trainee. Also, I will continue to work to plan my bachelor’s degree.

What inspires or motivates you?

First, my family because I want them to be comfortable. Second, my desires to continue education.

Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.

I’m married and have three children (a daughter and two sons). I like to be with my family, play with my kids, travel and exercise.

What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you?

Being named an Outstanding Student means a big success in my life and inspires my kids to do better than their father.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

I will say thank you to Kirkwood, my teachers, my advisors and all the staff for their support and effort.
