Q: Where are you from? (city, state)
A: North Liberty, Iowa
Q: Why did you choose Kirkwood?
A: I chose to attend Kirkwood because the online program fit around my work/family schedule and they accepted nearly all of my transfer credits. I also knew that I could utilize the Iowa City campus in the evenings while my young swimmers practiced just blocks away.
Q: What is your major and how did you choose it?
A: I pursued my Business Administration and Management degree so I would have the opportunity to become a director of school nutrition, in the school district I currently work for, when the position becomes available. I also wanted to learn more about project management and financial management so I can be a knowledgeable and well-rounded leader.
Q: What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?
A: My proudest moment at Kirkwood was being selected to be part of Kirkwood’s All-Iowa Academic Team. It is a privilege and honor to represent Kirkwood.
Q: What are your plans after Kirkwood?
A: After graduation, I plan to continue my work in the Clear Creek Amana School District’s food service department. I hope to continue to be a leader of positive change and someday lead the department.
Q: What inspires or motivates you?
A: I am inspired by those around me to learn, grow, be empathetic, and a leader of change. I am always looking for ways to create better processes while keeping my staff and students in focus. What motivates me each day is the challenge of creating positive change and cohesive teams that are dynamic, diverse, and unique.
Q: Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.
A: Outside of Kirkwood, I am a wife and mother of six children who are ages 8-17 years-old. I work fulltime and serve my community on the University of Iowa’s Stead Family Children’s Hospital’s Family Advisory Council and as board president of the Iowa City Eels Swim Club. My favorite hobby is cake decorating and one of my most memorable cakes was the replica of the Stead Family Children’s Hospital that was featured in their first birthday video.
Q: What does be named an Outstanding Student mean to you?
A: It reminds me that all the late nights, early mornings, and tireless work was worth it. I think it also strengthens my belief that Kirkwood was the right school for me.
