Eagles bound for NCJAA D11 World Series 

It’s official Eagle fans! The Kirkwood Community College baseball team is heading to the College World Series.  

The D11 ICCAC champs defeated eighth ranked Miles Community College on Saturday, May 22, 9-1. Kirkwood is now 42-20 and will travel to Enid, Okla.  

With the win Kirkwood will now play in their second NCJAA D11 College World Series within the last four years.  

The Eagles opened up the game with a big lead. They had a 4-0 lead over the Pioneers in just the second inning. Kirkwood drove in 3 more runs in the third and fourth inning to go up 7-0.  

MCC would eventually score, but it would not be good enough. The Eagles tapped in 2 more runs in the ninth and would officially secure a spot in Oklahoma with the win.  

Tyler Tscherter got his seventh win of the season and is now 7-1 on the year. Anthony Bleggi got the start for MCC, and Cy Miller finished the ball game for the Pioneers.   

Josh Fitzgerald and Alex Pendergast both had more homeruns vs Miles Community College. However, Chase Mosely had 2 homers in the win vs the Pioneers.  

Kirkwood had a fantastic game hitting the ball and had total number of 14 hits. Fitzgerald was unstoppable hitting the ball and had 3 RBI`s to go along with his homerun. Alex Pendergast, Joel Vaske and Chase Moseley also had RBI`s in the win. Tyler Tscherter pitched all 9 innings and had 9 K`s. He only allowed 2 hits, 1 run, 1 error and 1 walk.   

The Pioneers struggled hitting the ball only came away with 2 hits in the entire contest. However, Dawson Perry came away with a homerun and the only run in the game for Miles.  

Anthony Bleggi got the start for the Pioneers and pitched for 3.2 innings. Bleggi had 2 strike outs in the loss. He allowed 9 hits, 7 runs, 6 errors and 1 walk.  

Cy Miller finished the game for MCC and pitched for 5.1 innings. He had 7 strike outs vs Kirkwood. Miller allowed 5 hits, 2 runs and 2 errors. Miles Community College season is now over. The Pioneers finished the 2020/2021 season 44-16.
