Eagles baseball takes down Miles Community College

The Kirkwood Community College baseball team took down Miles Community College in the first matchup 6-2, on Friday, May 21.  

After the win the Eagles are now 41-20 and will play MCC one more time on Saturday, May 22. The ICCAC D11 champs took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning and then had 3 more runs in the fourth inning to go up 4-0.  

The Pioneers would finally drive in a run in the fifth inning and then another run in the sixth inning to trim the Eagles lead to 2. However, that would be the only runs the Pioneers would drive in. Kirkwood would score 2 more runs in the 5 and 8 to win 6-2.  

Reece Beuter would start for the 2021 ICCAC D11 Champs and get his sixth win of the season. Jett Hasegawa got his first loss of the season and is now 11-1 after Friday’s game vs Kirkwood.    

Kirkwood had a nice day hitting the ball. The Eagles had 3 homers in the win and drove in 6 RBI`s. Josh Fitzgerald, Alex Pendergast and Justin Martinez all had homers in the first game.  

Martinez had a total of 3 RBI`s and 1 run. Cade Moss, the catcher, had 2 hits in the win. The Kirkwood baseball team had a total of 7 hits, 6 RBI`s, 3 homers and 32 at-bats.  

Bauter pitched for 4 innings and had 8 strike outs. He also finished with 5 walks, 1 run and only allowed 1 hit.  

Tucker Christensen relieved Bauter in the fifth inning and pitched for 1 inning and allowed 2 hits. Christensen finished with 3 k`s, 2 walks and 1 run.  

Grayson Drezek closed out the game for the Eagles, had 6 strike outs and got his 3 save of the day. Drezek pitched for 3 innings and allowed 2 hits in the win vs MCC.    

For the Pioneers, Jake Lacey and Hunter Lasko had doubles. Braydon Howard and Dawson Perry drove in the only runs for the Pioneers. Lacey and Howard were the only ones who reached home for Miles.  

Jett Hasegawa had his first loss of the season. Hasegawa pitched for 7 innings and had 8 k`s. However, he allowed 6 hits, 5 runs, 4 errors and 1 walk.  

Dylan Rydalch relieved Hasegawa in the 8 and pitched for 0.2 innings. He finished with 1 strike out and did not allow a single hit in his appearance on the mound.
