With the weather becoming nicer and the summer going into full swing, a favorite pastime after a busy semester is relaxing with a good book. An engaging type of book is a graphic novel.  They are not only comic books with superheroes but cover historical fiction, realistic fiction and even memoirs.

The library has many graphic novels that range all types of genres and appeal to many readers.  Check out a few of our picks!

“Anya’s Ghost” by Vera Brogsol – High school is hard enough.  Accidentally becoming friends with a ghost named Emily you encounter after falling into a well would seem to make it harder.  Or would it?

“Djeliya” by Juni Ba – A fantasy epic adventure rooted in West African folklore.  The story follows Mansou, the last prince of his kingdom, and Awa, the last of her bloodline of storytellers, as they journey to meet a powerful wizard who destroyed their world in an attempt to remedy the apocalypse.  They meet characters from myths and legends and discover secrets of their people along the way.

“Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy” by Rey Terciero – In this modern retelling of Louisa May Alcott’s classic Little Women, the March sisters all face their own challenges while living as a blended family in New York City.
