Eagles dominate competition at Wartburg Invite 

The Eagles went to Waverly on Friday, Sept. 22 – 23 to compete in the Wartburg Invite. From start to finish, the Eagles out shined the rest of the competition.  

The Eagles had Grant Greazel, Frank Haege, Gannon Hall, Quinn Tinkler and Leo Burger competing for team play, and competing as individuals were Nathan Bratanata, Payton Burns, Tate Brunk and Nate Offerman. 

Day one saw the Eagles filling a strong majority of the top spots on the scoreboard with 

Grant Greazel in second place finishing two under par and Haege, Hall and Tinkler all respectively finishing one under par and taking up the only spots being tied for third. 

Burger finished two over par in ninth place overall with a team score of 283 and 5 strokes under par. Competing as individuals, Bratanata and Burns also finished above two tied for ninth with Tate Brunk and Nate Offerman shooting three and four above par. 

Day two saw a lot of the Eagles improving their scores from the previous day. Greazel ended up going five under par on the day to secure and take the number one spot finishing seven under par for the weekend with Haege and Hall matching their scores from the day before finishing in third two under par and Tinkler and Leo Burger going even on the day to put Tinkler in fifth one under par and Burger in tied for sixth going finishing the weekend two over par. 

Bratanata had another day going two over to finish tied for 11th going four over par with Offerman having a three-stroke improvement finishing five over par with Brunk going four over par finishing tied for 21st and Burns finishing nine over tied for 27th. 

The Eagles finished with a combined score of 564 going 12 under par for the weekend. They beat second place Wartburg College and Buena Vista who had team scores of 591, which was 15 over par beating both respected colleges by a total of 27 strokes. This secured another tournament win for the Kirkwood golf team. 

The Eagles look to move on to play in the Jim Currel Invitational down in Ames on Oct. 12, and then following have a big meet coming up for the Region XI fall preview in Panora, Iowa, on Oct. 17 – 18.
