Eagles Weekly

Eagles Weekly | October 19-25, 2026

A short week for Kirkwood athletics, with only two games taking place, the Eagles won both games. In the last full week of the regular season for the volleyball team, the Eagles compiled two wins. Even sweeping No. 3 Iowa Central. Golf was set to host the Kirkwood Invite, but was canceled last second.

Eagles Weekly is a weekly article that summarizes all six of Kirkwood’s athletics. In these articles you can read summaries of each game, and which student-athletes have been shining the most. At the bottom of the article, two athletes are chosen for the “Eagles of the Week” honor which is given to the two Eagles who shined the brightest for that edition.

Eagles of the Week

Katie Scheckel: 6 sets, 1.67 kills per set, 6.33 assists per set, 5 service aces

Delivering the final kill to defeat No. 3 Iowa Central, Katie Scheckel stepped up when Kirkwood needed it multiple times. Through her efforts she contributed 1.67 kills per set as a setter. While she also excelled in a more setter statistical standpoint, amassing 6.33 assists per set. The cherry on top was her five service aces in just two matches played. This is Scheckel’s third Eagle of the Week honor.

Carly Wazac: 6 sets, 3 kills per set, .467 hitting percentage, 4 blocks

A common theme for Kirkwood’s volleyball team this year has been winning. Another common theme is Carly Wazac leading the Eagles in every match. This week was no different, as the sophomore totaled 18 kills across three sets, equating to 3 kills per set. With that volume she also amassed a .467 hitting percentage. Meaning whenever she was hitting the ball, almost half the time it resulted in a point for the Eagles. She also blocked four attacks. This is Wazac’s fifth Eagles of the Week honors.
