Rec Center app is one stop shop for campus activities

While there are several ways to learn what’s going on at the Kirkwood Community College Rec Center, students may already have the easiest way at their fingertips. The “Kirkwood Rec” app is a resource available for students interested in attending Rec Center events.

“Intramurals are on there, fitness class schedules on there, rec hours, but then also the Kirkwood events,” said Brett Baumgart, rec center supervisor. “Everything through Student Life, athletics and everything like that—kind of a one stop shop to hopefully catch a lot of attention and different things going on.”

The app is run through IMLeagues, a company that specializes in organizing intramural sports, according to Baumgart. He said it allows the Rec Center to easily organize teams, leagues and tournaments.

The app is one of the easiest ways to see Kirkwood’s event schedule while also showing classes and events specialized to the Rec Center, according to Baumgart. He added it runs smoother than the IMLeagues website due to the significantly reduced number of ads.

To use the app, students need to create an account with an email, but it doesn’t need to be a student email. “I just tell people to use whatever email you’re actually going to check whether it’s your student one or if it’s your Google or Yahoo or whatever else,” he said.

If any issues arise with creating an account, Baumgart recommended stopping by the Rec Center or emailing him to see if he can help figure out the problem.

Students can find the app by searching “Kirkwood Rec” in the App Store.
