Why did you choose Kirkwood?
I chose Kirkwood because I knew they had phenomenal dental programs. I had heard many great things about Kirkwood, and when I toured the facilities, I loved it!
What is your major and how did you choose it?
My major is Dental Hygiene. I chose this major because I knew I wanted to be in the healthcare field, helping others. I solidified my decision by completing the Dental Assisting program through Kirkwood last year. I knew I wanted to further my education in the dental field, so I came back for my A.A.S in Dental Hygiene.
What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?
My proudest moment at Kirkwood has been caring for patients through our clinics. I also enjoyed being a speaker on the Dental Day panel, through Kirkwood.
What are your plans after Kirkwood?
I will graduate with my Dental Hygiene degree next spring, 2023, and will be going back to school to complete my bachelor’s degree, in order to potentially teach in the dental field. I am excited to work in an orthodontics office, or private practice, helping people reach their goals of a beautiful smile.
What inspires or motivates you?
What motivates me is knowing that at the end of my educational journey, I will have all the knowledge to make an everlasting impact on our community.
Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.
Outside of Kirkwood I love to travel, be with family and friends, make earrings for my Etsy shop, Maeveclayco, and work as a wedding coordinator, bringing couples wedding dreams to life.
What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you?
I am so grateful for the incredible faculty I have had the pleasure to work with. It is very encouraging to have their recognition. I am thankful for this opportunity.
