Where are you from?
I am originally from Saginaw, Michigan, but I moved to Iowa City when I was very young.
Why did you choose Kirkwood?
I was a high school dropout after I had my first child. I went to the Continuing Education program at Kirkwood where I received my high school diploma and it was the teachers in that department who led me to continue my education.
What is your major and how did you choose it?
My major is Liberal Arts because I was planning on transferring to a four-year university.
What are your plans after Kirkwood?
Last fall I was accepted at the University of Iowa so that is where I’m planning to attend this coming fall.
What inspires or motivates you?
My three young kids are my motivation and wanting to be the best mother I can be.
Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.
Outside of Kirkwood I am a mother and I work as a CNA. I really don’t do much.
What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you?
Being named Outstanding Student shows me that I made the right choice for continuing my education.
