Where are you from?

Independence, Iowa.

Why did you choose Kirkwood?

I wanted to get into Kirkwood’s OTA program.

What is your major and how did you choose it?

My major is Occupational Therapy Assistant. I choose this career because I wanted to help people and OTA provides a fun and creative way to do just that.

What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?

My proudest moment was when I got into the OTA program.

What are your plans after Kirkwood?

I plan to take and pass my certification exam and find a job as a COTA.

What inspires or motivates you?

I am inspired and motivated by the ability to become a COTA in the future and help change lives for the better.

Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.

My hobbies include spending time with friends and family, reading, coloring, watching tv and cooking/baking.

What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you?

Being named as an Outstanding Student means that all of my hard work was recognized by my teacher as well as all of my growth throughout the program.

Is there anything else you’d like to add? 

I would like to thank my teachers for nominating me for this award and for helping me to grow into the clinician and woman that I am today.
