Where are you from? Hopkinton, Iowa.
Why did you choose Kirkwood? Because it feels like home. The professors want you to succeed so they are there to help you. I also chose Kirkwood because there are many opportunities within the Ag Business Program at Kirkwood that students are able to take part in.
What is your major and how did you choose it? I am studying Ag Business at Kirkwood. I chose Ag Business because I have a passion for the Ag Industry. Having grown up on a Dairy Farm it was an easy decision for me because I love being a part of the family atmosphere that is within the Ag Industry.
What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood? My proudest moment at Kirkwood would probably be named one of Kirkwood Outstanding Students. It really shows how much work I have put in not only in classes but also in all the organizations that I am involved in. It is also a reminder that when you put in the hard work you will get rewarded.
What are your plans after Kirkwood? After I graduate from Kirkwood in May I plan to continue my career working at Triangle Agri Services. With hopes to one day return to the family farm and create an Agritourism Business that allows people to visit farms and learn about the Agricultural Industry.
What inspires or motivates you? I get most of my inspiration from my family and friends. They motivate me to be the best person that I can be. I am also inspired when I am able to teach others about the Ag Industry.
Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood. Outside of Kirkwood I work on my family’s dairy farm while also working at Triangle Agri Service. I love being outside and being with animals as well.
What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you? Being named Outstanding Student means a lot to me. My sister was named the Outstanding Student last year and she is someone that I look up to so I feel as though it is an honor to follow in her footsteps this year.
Is there anything else you’d like to add? Everyone at Kirkwood wants you to succeed and never be afraid to ask for help if you need it. The professors are there for you. Also get involved there are a lot of cool opportunities that you can take at Kirkwood to get involved.
