Outstanding Students

Emma Conlon

Where are you from? Clarion, Iowa

Why did you choose Kirkwood? I chose it because of the Study Abroad options and Kirkwood was highly ranked as a Culinary School in Iowa.

What is your major and how did you choose it? I am a Culinary Arts major and I chose it because I grew up with baking and wanted to learn how to cook professionally.

What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood? Achieving the Outstanding Student Award.

What are your plans after Kirkwood? Study Abroad in Florence, Italy, and move to Des Moines to work as either a baker or nutritionist.

What inspires or motivates you? Maintaining my mental, physical and spiritual health and wellbeing so I can show up as a better person for my family and friends.

Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood. I love staying active in the gym, playing basketball, and spending time with family as much as I can.

What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you? I have worked so hard since the very first day of college to achieve this goal, and I am so proud to receive this award! It means so much to me to be recognized for my hard work and dedication to my craft.

Is there anything else you’d like to add? Thank you very much!
