Outstanding Students

Angelo Djinadou

Where are you from? North Liberty, Iowa.

Why did you choose Kirkwood? I chose Kirkwood because it is a great affordable college that offers education and training that correspond to the contemporary challenges and needs of today’s and tomorrow’s professions.

What is your major and how did you choose it? I am majoring in Respiratory Therapy. I chose to be a respiratory therapist to make a difference in the lives of people dealing with respiratory issues. I love to be there for the patients by taking care of them, listening, and reassuring them about their state of health.

What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood? My proudest moment was when I was noticed and accepted into the respiratory therapy program.

What are your plans after Kirkwood? After graduation, I plan to remain in Iowa City or Cedar Rapids areas to work for at least a year and to acquire more experience in the hospital field before getting back to school to get my bachelor’s.

What inspires or motivates you? My family is the preeminent inspiration in my life. They encourage me to do well whatever I do.

Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood. I love to spend my time with my spouse and children. I love cooking, gardening and traveling.

What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you? I am very proud of myself to be named an Outstanding Student. This proves to me that I am on the right track. This honor also helps me to overcome self-doubt and build self-confidence.

Is there anything else you’d like to add? Thank you for the interview opportunity. I want also to thank those who nominated me and more specifically my respiratory therapy program teachers.
