A: Iowa City, IA
Q: Why did you choose Kirkwood?
A: I chose Kirkwood because as a non-traditional student I felt that Kirkwood was an appropriate stepping stone for me to transition back onto a path of education.
Q: What is your major and how did you choose it?
A: I intend to major in Psychology. Currently, I am working towards a Liberal Arts Degree here at Kirkwood. I chose Psychology because my passion has always been assisting others and trying to improve their quality of life.
Q: What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?
A: My proudest moments at Kirkwood are learning Spanish, maintaining good grades, being on the dean’s list every semester, and positively influencing and assisting others.
Q: What are your plans after Kirkwood?
A: After Kirkwood I would like to continue my education at the University of Iowa working towards a degree in Psychology.
Q: What inspires or motivates you?
A: Helping people recognize their strengths and resources to cope with everyday problems and serious adversity.
Q: Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.
A: Outside of Kirkwood I am a full-time mother and wife. I enjoy spending time with my family baking, playing games, gardening, and attending seasonal events.
Q: What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you?
A: Being named an Outstanding Student to me means stepping outside of your comfort zone and being a curious person who embraces challenges and can also learn from them.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to add?
A: I am thankful for the abundant support I have that has equipped me with having the attitude to excel in whatever I do. I am earnestly grateful for the recognition I have received for my work.
