Eagles come up big in the first round of the ICCAC conference tournament 

The Kirkwood Community College men`s basketball team rolled past North Iowa Area Community College 94-74 on Tuesday, April 6. The Eagles took down the Trojans in the first round of the ICCAC conference tournament. The 2019 NJCAA champions were in control for most of the game and outscored NIACC 44-31 in the first half.   

Kirkwood now travels to Estherville on April 8, to take on Iowa Lakes. Iowa Lakes is ranked eighth with a 16-7 record. The Eagles are currently ranked 20th and are 14-9. NIACC now drops to 7-16 in the year after the loss.   

Former ICCAC Athlete of the Week Corvon Seals had 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists to lead Kirkwood in scoring. No. 45 Blessin Kimble had one of his best games of the year. He came off the bench and finished the game with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Jaden Keller had one his best games of the year as well. He came away with 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 dime in the win. Blake Brinkmeyer dominated the boards with 15. Brinkmeyer also had a double-double vs NIACC as he finished with 10 points, and 2 blocks. McKelary Robertson had an unbelievable game as he had 30 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. Jordon Jones came off the bench as a spark and finished with 14 points, and 9 assists. Marshaun Carroll had 12 points, 4 boards, 3 dimes, and 2 steals.  

There are now only four teams remaining in the ICCAC division 11. Ellsworth takes on Southwestern and Kirkwood versus Iowa Lakes, both games happening on Thursday, April 8, at 7 p.m.
