Kirkwood rebounds with win over Northeast Community College in the regional tournament 

The Eagles baseball team had a nice rebound and stay alive in the regional tournament with a big win over Northeast Community College 10-2 on Saturday, May 15.  

Kirkwood had 13 hits and rolled over Northeast. Kirkwood had a such a big lead that they mercy ruled the hawks of Northeast.  

With the win Kirkwood is now 38-20 and will now take on Iowa Central in the Championship at Plaster Athletic Complex in Cedar Rapids. However, the Eagles need 2 victories over Iowa Central to win the championship. The Hawks finished the season 37-24 after the loss to the Eagles of Kirkwood.  

Rian Yates started for the 20th ranked Eagles and only allowed 3 hits and 2 runs. Yates had 4 strike outs and 3 walks.  

Grayson Drezek closed it out for Kirkwood and got the win. Drezek is now 2-3 and had 4 strike outs. He did not allow any hits and no walks. 

 Joel Vaske had 4 hits, 2 RBIs and 2 runs. Josh Fitzgerald, Trevor Burkhart, Alex Pendergast, Joel Vaske, Chase Moseley and Cade Moss all had RBI`s in the win vs Northeast.   

Christian Carew got the start for Northeast and pitched for 5 innings. He allowed 10 hits, 4 runs, 3 errors, 3 walks and 7 strike outs.  

Chris Mazzini relieved Carew and allowed 3 runs, 3 errors and 3 walks. Matt Dreher closed out the game for the Hawks and had 2 strike outs. Dreher allowed 3 hits, 3 runs and 4 walks.  

Northeast Community College only had 3 hits in the entire game. Tyler Monroe, Zane Zielinski and Parker Dorrance were the only ones for the Hawks to have a hit in the contest. Cade Lynam and Zane Zielinski drove in the RBIs for Northeast.
