The Eagles take game one of the ICCAC D11 Championship 

The Eagles baseball team took game one of the ICCAC D11 Championship on Sunday, May 16. Kirkwood beat Iowa Central 8-3 and only need on more game to capture the 2021 ICCAC title.  

Kirkwood is now 39-20 after the win and will play Iowa central one more time. The Tritons are now 35-23 and hope to play better in the next game vs the Eagles. Despite trailing early in the game, The Eagles had a nice run and took a 4-2 lead in the seventh inning. They also had 4 big runs in the ninth inning to seal the victory over Iowa Central 8-3.  

Andrue Henry and Justin Martinez both had homers in the win. Alex Pendergast, Joel Vaske, Andrue Henry and Justin Martinez all had RBI`s in the win.   

Tucker Christensen started for the Eagles and pitched for 3 innings. He allowed 7 hits, 2 runs, 2 errors, 3 walks and 4 strike outs.  

Frankie Cresta relieved Christensen and got his third win of the season. Cresta is now 3-3 after the first game vs the Tritons. He had 3 strike outs and allowed 9 walks.  

Iowa Central had 6 hits, 1 run and 1 error on Cresta. Grayson Drezek closed out the game for Kirkwood and got his second save of the season.   

John Klein got the start for Northeast and pitched 8 innings. He allowed 12 hits, 8 runs, 7 errors and 1 walk. Klein also had 9 strike outs in the loss. After the game was over, he is now 7-3 on the season.  

Kai Reum finished the game and allowed 2 hits, 1 walk and 2 strike outs vs Kirkwood. On the offensive side, the Hawks had 13 hits in the game. Brock Johnson had 3 hits in the loss. Ben DeTaeye and Dereck Kay had the RBI`s for Iowa Central.  

Iowa Central vs Kirkwood will play one more time to determine the winner of the 2021 ICCAC D11 championship.
