Kirkwood Student Center renovation still underway

According to the Kirkwood Community College website, the Kirkwood Student Center renovation is still underway, as is also apparent by the construction equipment and crew outside.

Due to the decreased number of students on campus this semester, some say the construction has not caused an inconvenience. David Reese, who plans to graduate with a General Associates degree, said that the construction has not affected him. “All of my classes are in Cedar Hall,” he said.

Many students are either taking their classes around that area or are also complying to the demands of COVID-19 social distancing by taking their classes online.

Some students may not have heard of the construction, such as Anna Thompson, attending Kirkwood for a Liberal Arts degree to transfer to UNI for Social Work. She said, “I don’t really have any thoughts on it. I actually forget that we have construction going on most of the time.”

Students can get updates on the construction by going to www.kirkwood.edu/renovations.

On this site, it contains all the relevant information regarding this renovation. This includes the new features and improvements to the Student Center, such as the highly anticipated enhanced Café, and an FAQ page stating the possible completion time. “Tentative completion is scheduled in fall 2022.”
