Kirkwood Community College Marketing Professor Edwin Nyamwala has his own clothing line coined Overcoming Adversity or OA. The line aims to bring affordable sports apparel to regular people.
After seeing how expensive brands like Under Armour are, Nyamwala said he decided that there had to be a better way. Nyamwala took inspiration from Under Armour’s design and made his own logo. Aimed at being a competitor with Under Armour Nyamwala takes Under Armour’s quality and cuts the prices.
Nyamwala targets sports teams and athletes as his main audience with polo’s and other sports apparel being completely customizable.
Currently he has several soccer teams that come to him for affordable uniforms. To order affordable sportswear go to www.o-a.online.
Nyamwala came up with the idea in 2015 when he realized that sports apparel like Under Armour was too expensive. Nyamwala came up with the idea when he was teaching and coaching women’s soccer at Shorter University in Rome, Georgia.
“The thing was that I went and checked the prices of Under Armour and they were outrageous,” he said. “I did my dissertation on clothing lines so I looked at all of their prices. So I decided I want to come up with affordable ones that a normal person can afford, it’s the same quality and you can afford it.”
Nyamwala, originally from Kenya, came to America on a 4-year soccer scholarship. Playing in sports Nyamwala noticed the high price driving him to create his own brand of sports apparel.
