Anna Weber

Q: Where are you from?

A: Rice Lake, Wisconsin

Q: Why did you choose Kirkwood?

A: I chose to attend Kirkwood because of the reputation the Occupational Therapy Assistant program has. I love the Cedar Rapids area and have enjoyed my time in the area.

Q: What is your major and how did you choose it?

A: I am in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program. I chose to peruse a career as an OTA after doing an internship in high school. I fell in love with the field after witnessing how impactful therapy can be for individuals.

Q: What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?

A: My proudest moment at Kirkwood has been my fieldwork rotations. I have felt that my didactic learning has paid off and I have been well prepared to work with patients, despite the changes in classroom learning due to the pandemic. While on rotation I have been complemented on my knowledge and I’m proud to say I attended Kirkwood Community College when people ask.

Q: What are your plans after Kirkwood?

A: I’m not sure exactly where I will end up after graduation, but I would like to find a job in either home health or a skilled nursing facility near Cedar Rapids or my hometown.

Q: What inspires or motivates you?

A: My parents and grandparents are my biggest motivators. They have done so much for me to help me be successful. In this program my future has been a huge motivator for me, thinking about how I will be able to help people in the future.

Q: Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.

A: Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family, cross country skiing, baking and cooking, and playing games.

Q: What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you?

A: Being named Outstanding Student for a program with a great reputation has meant a lot and shows how much I have grown and learned. It has shown all my efforts towards school have paid off.  It is an honor to be recognized my professors who I view as professional role models.

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Kirkwood is a great place to attend for higher education. All the faculty are caring towards their students and want them to succeed.  I have had such a great experience and met so many great people.
