Outstanding Students

Cameron Gearhart

Where are you from? I am from Marion, Iowa.

Why did you choose Kirkwood? I chose Kirkwood because both my parents had attended there and it is relatively close to my residence so I would not have a major commute and it is an affordable college.

What is your major and how did you choose it? I chose advanced welding technologies because I took a welding shop class in high school and really liked it and I love building stuff with my hands.

What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood? My proudest moment at Kirkwood was making the Dean’s list and being named an outstanding student.

What are your plans after Kirkwood? My plans after Kirkwood are to become a certified well inspector or a mechanical engineer.

What inspires or motivates you? I would say my constant determination to always improve motivates me. I would also say that I am driven by a strong work ethic.

Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood. My hobbies are I am a coin collector, I like to read about trains and I love to weld.

What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you? It means a lot to me. It was a surprise but a pleasant one. I am very humbled to receive this honor.

Is there anything else you’d like to add? Always try your best in everything you do.
