Outstanding Students

Piper Ideker

Q: Where are you from? (city, state)

A: I am from Marion Iowa.

Q: Why did you choose Kirkwood?

A: I chose Kirkwood because it is still close to home and I wasn’t quite ready to move outside of Cedar Rapids.

Q: What is your major and how did you choose it?

A: I chose Software Engineering because I love programming and I think engineering would give me a good challenge.

Q: What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?

A: The proudest moment was the first time I received a letter for the Dean’s List.

Q: What are your plans after Kirkwood?

A: After Kirkwood I am going to transfer to Iowa State University.

Q: What inspires or motivates you?

A: I have a hunger for knowledge, (especially software related topics) and finding new ways to do something makes me want to apply that knowledge. What can and can’t I do with this new information? What other questions come up from this new knowledge?
Q: Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.

A: I’m what I call a “hobby hopper.”  I’m always on the lookout for new hobbies, but the ones that have stuck with me the longest are playing the flute, sewing and cooking/baking.
Q: What does be named an Outstanding Student mean to you?

A: To me it’s proof of me having good relationships with my professors and that I took responsibility for my learning.
