Where are you from? Hopkinton, Iowa.
Why did you choose Kirkwood? I chose Kirkwood because of its location close to home, affordable, and its nationally ranked Agriculture Program.
What is your major and how did you choose it? My major is Agricultural Business. I chose this major as I have had a large passion for the agricultural industry from growing up on our family dairy farm.
What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood? My proudest moment at Kirkwood is having the opportunity to serve as the Ag Business Club Vice President and planning many events throughout the school year including the 1st Ag Olympics, Kirkwood Ag Business Golf Outing and many more fun events for students to get involved in and be able to make the most of their college career.
What are your plans after Kirkwood? I will graduate in May 2023 with a degree in Agricultural Business. I have been given the opportunity of a lifetime to go to South Africa in July 2023 through an Agricultural and Geology study abroad through Kirkwood. After my study abroad I plan to find a fulltime job in the ag industry along with working on our family’s dairy farm.
What inspires or motivates you? My hard work ethic is what truly motivates me to do the best that I can. Growing up on a dairy farm has taught me many different life skills and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I have grown up knowing that I have to work for what I want or I will not achieve my goals in life.
Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood. I enjoy doing anything outdoors with my family and friends from ranger rides to working on our farm to going on walks.
What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you? It is truly an honor to be selected as an Outstanding Student and has proven to me that all of my hard work and dedication has paid off.
Is there anything else you’d like to add? I truly couldn’t have been the student that I am today without the incredible agriculture professors at Kirkwood along with my fellow classmates. They truly care about you and want to see you succeed in life by teaching us many real life lessons and skills for the future.
