Kirkwood intramural sports season has begun

Intramurals for the Kirkwood Community College 2023- 2024 academic year have begun.

Intramurals are tournaments, competitions and sports events held on campus. It is not too late to join a team this fall and make new friends all while staying active. A few reasons to get involved include getting out of one’s comfort zone, trying new things and growing team bonding skills.

By downloading the Kirkwood Rec app students will be able to join teams or create a new one. The Kirkwood Rec app also allows students to look at the intramural schedule, gives access to fitness class schedules and other events and gives students access to the Kirkwood Twitter and Facebook account to allow students to stay updated on any change in a schedule.

Intramurals can be used to take a break from studying, relieve stress and create new friendships. When competing in the intramurals and winning the games, students can also win a free t-shirt.

The fall schedule includes a single tennis tournament on Sept. 21, slow pitch tournament on Sept. 27, doubles tennis tournament Sept. 28.

In October, there will be 6 vs 6 co-ed soccer tournament on Oct. 2, powder puff football on Oct. 4, a kickball tournament on Oct. 11, co-ed basketball league on Oct. 23 and singles ping pong tournament on Oct. 26.

In November there will be doubles ping pong tournament on Nov. 2, free throw challenge on Nov. 9, dodgeball tournament on Nov. 29.

In December, student can participate in college football bowl pick’ems on Dec. 15.
