Women’s basketball season off to a winning start

With the end of the fall season brings winter and with winter brings basketball and for Kirkwood this year they have been 8-0 and off to an undefeated start while on top of that being ranked number one in the nation for the entire year since the preseason rankings have dropped.

Sophomore Kaylee Corbin has been leaving the charge leading the team in points at 15.8 points per game and second in rebounding averaging 4.6 rebounds a game while also shooting 61% from the field and sophomore

Emily Dreckman has been the second leading score and best all around player with 12 points per games averaging 3 assists a game and almost average two steals a game being a huge x factor playing the passing lanes tremendously well.

The Eagles are coming off a very dominant stretch beating Black Hawk 74-40 with the defense shining while on top of that three Eagles scoring above 15 points each in Kaylee Corbin with 18, Demetria Prewitt in 17, and Lizzy Puot scoring 15.

Right after that game against Black Hawk, the Eagles would have their best game of the year as a team where they beat Southeastern with a score of 101-26.

This included Jenna Twedt leading the way scoring 20 points while also knocking down five threes with Emily Dreckman scoring 17 shooting 7 for 10 knocking down three threes also with six Eagles off the bench scoring at least five or more just an all around team win.

The Eagles get to host Southwestern on Dec. 6 before traveling to Boone, Iowa, to play DMACC on Dec. 9 in hopes of keeping the team undefeated and remaining the ranked number one team in the country.
