Q: Where are you from? (city, state) 

A:  I am from Lowden, Iowa. 

Q: Why did you choose Kirkwood? 

A: I am a returning student to Kirkwood, determined to reach my goal of finishing my degree.   

Q: What is your major and how did you choose it? 

A: My major chose me.  I have known that I wanted to be an Early Childhood teacher since my first daughter was born. 

Q: What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?  

A: My proudest moment at Kirkwood was getting my first semester grades, proving that I can do this after all these years. 

Q: What are your plans after Kirkwood? 

A: My plans after Kirkwood are to continue to teach preschool in the daycare setting. 

Q: What inspires or motivates you? 

A: The children I teach are what motivate me. Helping them build a strong foundation for future learning is what drives me to succeed. 

 
Q: Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc. 

A: Who I am outside of Kirkwood is, first and foremost, a Mother to two amazing teenage daughters who have taught me way more than I could ever teach them.  My other titles are Ms. Amy 3-year-old Preschool Teacher, Wife, Chef, Housekeeper, Therapist, Chauffeur, Dog mom, and Friend to name a few.   

 
Q: What does be named an Outstanding Student mean to you? 

A: Being named an Outstanding Student is an honor I will always cherish.
