I chose Kirkwood because I knew I wanted to become a Physical Therapist Assistant and had heard about all the hands-on training Kirkwood’s PTA program had to offer.
What is your major and how did you choose it?
My major is in Physical Therapy Assisting. I chose this major because my mom had a stroke when I was young, and I got to see how big of an impact physical therapy can have on a person’s life.
What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?
My proudest moment at Kirkwood was completing all of my performance exams and seeing my growth of knowledge and skills while working with patients.
What are your plans after Kirkwood?
After Kirkwood, I plan to get a physical therapist assistant job in Cedar Rapids. I am open to an outpatient or an inpatient setting. My dream job would be a physical therapist assistant at an inpatient rehabilitation facility.

Outside of Kirkwood, I love to be outdoors riding bikes and hiking. I also work on keeping my indoor plants alive and love to line dance.
What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you?
I feel so blessed to be named an Outstanding Student. I have worked so hard to get through this program and could not have done it without the support of my teachers. I feel like so many of my classmates deserve this honor and recognition, so I truly realize how big of an honor this is. I could not have picked a better school to complete my journey as a physical therapy assistant.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
I would just like to say thank you to all of my teachers and classmates who helped me along the way. I have truly made lifelong friends. This program has helped me to grow so much as a person and help me learn what being a caring and knowledgeable physical therapist assistant looks like.
