Where are you from? Iowa City, Iowa.
Why did you choose Kirkwood? I chose Kirkwood mainly because of the location, but also because I wanted to learn more about photography, which has been a hobby for about 10 years.
What is your major and how did you choose it? I’m in the Digital Arts program. I chose it because I’m interested in photography, which is part of this program in addition to many other digital skills.
What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood? My proudest moment was being awarded the Ira and Doris Larsen Fine Arts Endowed Scholarship.
What are your plans after Kirkwood? I’m graduating in May, and I’m hoping to find a job involving photography or digital design/art. I really want to find something that’s enjoyable and creatively rewarding.
What inspires or motivates you? I’m motivated by a desire to learn as much as possible about everything in my program before I graduate! I feel so fortunate to be able to learn from the amazing professors in my program, and I want to absorb as much information as possible.
Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood. I love photography, reading, messing around in Photoshop and playing with my two corgis.
What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you? Being recognized for my hard work feels really nice. I have such a hard time admitting to myself when I do a good job at something, so external validation is awesome.
Is there anything else you’d like to add? I just want to thank the creators of the Digital Arts program: Christine Flavin and Randy Langel. This program is so awesome, and I’ve learned more than I ever thought I would. I’m actually sad to be graduating because this whole experience has been the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.
