Where are you from?
I am from West Branch, Iowa.
Why did you choose Kirkwood?
I chose Kirkwood for their nursing program as I have heard good things about their program and heard good things about their clinical experiences.
What is your major and how did you choose it?
I am a nursing major, and I chose this because I have wanted to help people but never knew what I wanted to do, I eventually realized I wanted to help people through their dark times.
What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?
My proudest moment at Kirkwood, was when I failed my classes first semester, but didn’t give up, pushed myself and came back with 89% in my classes.
What are your plans after Kirkwood?
My plans after graduation are to be a nurse at the University of Iowa on a neurology/neurosurgical step-down unit.
What inspires or motivates you?
I am motivated by my friends Becca, Hannah and Anna Hamilton who are nursing students with me that have helped me push myself. Another thing that motivates me if that I am going to help people during their darkest hours and be the best nurse I can be.
Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.
When I have the time outside Kirkwood, I attend my brother’s basketball games with my mom and my other brother and go to movies with my sister Kimmy.
What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you?
It means a lot to me to be named an Outstanding Student. I am honored I have worked hard and pushed myself even when I didn’t do well in the past. It is amazing that I have facility that nominated me, and I am beyond humbled to be a part of something like this.

And, I would just like to again give a shout out to my fellow nursing students going through this process with me, Grace, Hannah, Becca, Hamilton and Eric you guys are my day ones, and I couldn’t be here without you.
