Q: Where are you from?
A: Brainerd, Minnesota
Q: Why did you choose Kirkwood?
A: Close to where I live and starting a community college means smaller classes and more flexibility to meet one on one with a professor.
Q: What is your major and how did you choose it?
A: I am majoring in Biology. I choose this major since it seems to be the best route for a medical career.
Q: What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?
A: So far, my proudest most at Kirkwood was when I received my GED through the continuing education program. Also, I worked hard when I was fulltime, I was very honored to be named on the dean’s list. And lastly receiving this reward has made me happy.
Q: What are your plans after Kirkwood?
A: I will be transferring to a University to continue my undergraduate degree.
Q: What inspires or motivates you?
A: My children inspire me and motive me every day. Also, whenever I see my progress in school, it keeps me motivated to continue with my education because in the end I know it’s all worth it.
Q: Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.
A: I am a mother of four wonderful children. We love the outdoors and spending quality time with each other. Also, I take a night EMT class so I can build experiment for my future career.
Q: What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you?
A: This award means the world to me. I am very proud to have be selected as an outstanding student considering around the time of receiving this reward, I felt like quitting. So, this award arrived in my email at just the right time. It showed me that my hard work so far has not gone unnoticed.
