Outstanding Students

Madi Karg

Q: Where are you from? (city, state)

A: Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Q: Why did you choose Kirkwood?

A: I chose Kirkwood because I knew it was known for having an amazing Paramedic Program and it was close to home.

Q: What is your major and how did you choose it?

A: My major is Paramedic, I chose it because I knew I wanted to help people in their worst moments, and being out on the streets with minimal resources is a challenge that I am excited to have.

Q: What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?

A: My proudest moment at Kirkwood was definitely passing my first semester on the Dean’s List. I was homeschooled my entire life and knowing that I could achieve that made me very proud of myself.

Q: What are your plans after Kirkwood?

A: My plans are to work for a couple years as a Paramedic and then go back to school for my Bachelor’s.

Q: What inspires or motivates you?

A: Challenging myself every day to learn and know more definitely motivates me, and my fiancé and puppy dog Willow motivate me daily to keep going.

Q: Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.

A: I love being outside and hanging out with my friends. Going out on the boat, traveling to new places, anything that involves adventure I am there.

Q: What does be named an Outstanding Student mean to you?

A: It means that I have accomplished way more than I ever thought. I have worked really hard to get where I am and getting this award means a lot to me.

A: Thank you for this award. I am very honored to receive it.
