Outstanding Students

Eric Blumer

Where are you from?

Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Why did you choose Kirkwood?

The ability to take all my courses online and positive recommendations from former students.

What is your major and how did you choose it?

Over the past two years, my current job has widened to incorporate elements of financial data analysis. This sparked an interest in me and has motivated me to pursue my major in Accounting.

What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?

Accomplishing my education goals while balancing a full-time job, managing a small LLC on the side, and making the Dean’s List each semester.

What are your plans after Kirkwood?

I plan to continue toward a four-year degree in Accounting and hope to have a positive impact on small businesses in my community.

What inspires or motivates you?

I am inspired by my mom every day.

What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you?

It is a powerful validation that I didn’t know I needed. It has given me the much needed push to finish strong here at Kirkwood and continue forward with my education.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Shout out to my dog, Tuna, for tolerating all these hours at my desk.
