Where are you from? I am from Hiawatha, Iowa.
Why did you choose Kirkwood? I chose Kirkwood because it would allow me to stay close to home and receive my degree in an affordable way. Also, I love all the opportunities that Kirkwood provides.
What is your major and how did you choose it? My major is Early Childhood Education (A.A.S.). I chose it because ever since I was younger, I have always wanted to play a big part in children’s education. I enjoy getting the opportunity to watch children grow and develop into confident, lifelong learners.
What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood? My proudest moment at Kirkwood has been making the Dean’s List every semester.
What are your plans after Kirkwood? After Kirkwood, I aim to work with children as a preschool teacher. I look forward to pursuing this career as I will get to make a difference in young lives and influence future generations.
What inspires or motivates you? My family inspires me, they have taught me how to work hard and achieve my passions. My professors have also inspired me to stay focused and keep doing what I love. Working with children is truly motivating because it makes me a happier and more positive person.
Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood. My hobbies outside of school include spending time with family and friends. I enjoy working with children and spending plenty of time outdoors walking and riding bikes. Some of my other interests include shopping, baking and reading.
What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you? Being selected as an Outstanding Student means a lot to me because it makes me feel like all my hard work is paying off. This motivates me to continue to accomplish my goals. I am thankful I get this opportunity.
Is there anything else you’d like to add? Thank you to the faculty at Kirkwood who has nominated me for this award. I truly appreciate the recognition for my hard work and the other Outstanding Students’ hard work as well. Kirkwood has been a great experience and will always have a special place in my heart.
